Lasting Threads Care

Lasting Threads Care is a small, family run organisation committed to providing high quality care to children who are looked after. The Company owners are passionate about delivering a service that puts children first and keeps their interests at the heart of every decision. We don’t want to be another Residential home, we just want to be home.

Established in 2019, after many setbacks and delays due to the Covid 19 pandemic our first home ‘Fletcher House’ was opened in October 2022. We are incredibly proud of our home, the children who live there and the staff team who have given everything to make the home a success. This was evidenced by our ‘Good’ in all areas grade at our first Ofsted inspection, and are maintained ‘Good’ judgement in our second inspection.

We are now expanding our company. It was important for us to open our services in the right way at the right time, to make sure no decision compromises quality and the children and staff stay at the heart of our business.

Our plan isn’t to be the biggest provider, our plan is to make sure every child that walks through our doors gets the same level of care that we expect for our own children, we are privileged to be able to be part of their journey and want to use that privilege to create homes where children can feel loved, have fun, create memories and prepare for their future.

About Us

Testimonials

All children are making progress from their individual starting points. Children receive well- planned and individualised care from a nurturing and committed staff team. It was clear from observations that staff know the children well and carefully manage children’s individual daily routines.

Ofsted 2023

Staff speak to children about their care needs. As a result, children are listened to, and this helps staff provide children with individualised daily care. One child said, ‘It’s like living in a normal home but better. They care and talk to me about things.’

Ofsted 2023

Staff support children’s individual educational needs. Staff are ambitious for children and advocate on their behalf to ensure that they have an education placement. One child had been out of education for a significant period. The manager worked with education professionals to address this and the child is now attending school on a regular basis, where she is making progress.

Ofsted 2023

Staff promote children’s individual health needs. Children are supported to attend the necessary health appointments. One child has been supported to significantly improve their health. A professional said, ‘They have been amazing, they invited me in straight away to provide extensive training to staff, to support [name of child]’s health needs. It is the first time I haven’t worried about [name of child]. I am more than happy with the care they are being provided with. Their health has improved as a result.’

Children living in the home are happy and settled. Staff care for children with empathy and warmth and develop strong and trusting relationships with the children to enable them to feel safe and secure. Staff reflect on how they interact with the children. They adapt their practice to meet the children’s needs and use alternative communication styles for each child. This means that children can express themselves in a manner that they feel comfortable with.

Ofsted 2024

Staff develop good working relationships with children’s families and those important to them. Parents and family members are updated on a regular basis and staff work in partnership with them to support children. One parent commented that her relationship with their child has significantly improved since they moved into this home.

Safeguarding is a strength of the home. Professionals say that staff go above and beyond to safeguard children. Staff have a good understanding of children’s risks and needs in respect of exploitation. The manager is a strong and assertive advocate for children who are at risk in the community. She challenges professionals to ensure that support is provided to children to keep them safe. Robust support plans are developed in partnership with external agencies and professionals. This means that there is a strong multi agency approach to keeping children safe, both in the home and the community.

Our Ethos

Children are the centre of everything we do and every decision we make, their best interests are our priority. Children who live in our homes deserve to live in an environment where they are viewed as unique individuals who have experienced adversity. We employ staff who have the skills and experience to support children to understand their past and how this may present in their behaviour and needs when living at the home. They will attune to children and provide secure attachment relationships to allow them to keep children safe and develop pro social behaviour allowing a successful transition into adulthood.

Children will be supported to have fun, grow, explore their identity, and develop the skills and competencies to successfully transition into adulthood.

Every child who comes to live in our homes will receive the environment, care and
nurture that would be expected for our own child.

Our promise to children is:

  • You will live in a safe home and be supported by safe adults.
  • Your best interests are our number one priority
  • You will be listened to, valued and respected
  • You will be given opportunities to have fun, laugh and enjoy activities
  • You will be supported to understand how to keep yourself safe
  • We will help to prepare you for your future
